In a shocking incident, Chilkur Balaji Temple’s chief priest, Rangarajan, was attacked by a group allegedly identifying as a private army. According to reports, some members of the group visited Rangarajan’s residence and pressured him to join their movement for establishing Ramarajya. When he refused, they assaulted him.
Chilkur Balaji Temple Priest Attack Details
The attack occurred on February 7 in Moinabad, under the jurisdiction of Ranga Reddy district police. According to a complaint filed by Rangarajan’s father, Soundar Rajan, the assailants also brutally attacked his son, leaving him injured. The priest’s family has urged the authorities to take strict legal action against the culprits.
One Arrested, Police Investigation Underway
Following the viral circulation of video capturing the incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Police have arrested Veeraraghava Reddy, suspected to be the leader of the gang, while a search is ongoing for the remaining members.
The ‘Private Army’ Angle
Authorities are also investigating reports that a self-proclaimed private army, claiming to be descendants of the Ikshvaku dynasty, has been attempting to coerce religious figures into supporting their cause of establishing Ramarajya.
The group has been reportedly dressed in black attire with saffron scarves. Their activities and movements are now under police scrutiny.
Temple Authorities Demand Justice
Expressing deep concern over the attack, Chilkur Balaji Temple Managing Committee Chairman, M.V. Soundar Rajan, called for immediate and stringent action against those responsible. He emphasized that such attacks on religious figures should not be tolerated and demanded justice for the victims.
This incident has sparked outrage among devotees and the general public, who are calling for strict legal action against the perpetrators. The Moinabad police have assured that the investigation is ongoing and all those involved will be brought to justice.
