Ram Gopal Varma Seeks More Time for CID Inquiry Amid Movie Promotions

Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has informed the CID that he will not be able to attend the scheduled inquiry in Guntur due to his busy schedule with the promotions of his upcoming movie Saari. The film is set for release on February 28, and citing promotional commitments, RGV has requested an 8-week extension for the inquiry.

Legal Troubles for RGV

The noted director is facing multiple legal challenges in Andhra Pradesh. A case was registered against him in Maddipadu Police Station, Prakasam District, for allegedly morphing and posting pictures of AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Additionally, complaints related to his movie posters have been filed at Anakapalli and Tulluru police stations. However, RGV received anticipatory bail from the Andhra Pradesh High Court in three cases.

Ongole Interrogation and Police Questions

On February 7, RGV appeared for questioning before the Ongole police, where he was reportedly interrogated for an entire day.

Sources indicate that the police asked him 50 questions regarding the allegations, but RGV failed to provide clear answers to some of them. The police have recorded his statement and instructed him to appear for further questioning.

Fresh Notice Over Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu

Adding to his legal troubles, RGV has received another notice regarding his 2019 film Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu. Telugu Yuvatha state representative Bandaru Vamsikrishna filed a complaint, alleging that certain scenes in the movie were offensive and hurt community sentiments.

Following this complaint, Guntur CID Inspector Thirumala Rao has issued fresh notices, asking the director to appear before them on February 10.
